THE NEW SCHOOL DHAKA NEWSLETTER Session 2025–2026 | Volume 2 | August 2025
A Month of Growth, Creativity, and Collaboration
August has been an exciting and enriching month at The New School Dhaka. From environmental stewardship to advanced teacher training, from joyful preschool activities to dynamic senior projects, our students and teachers have been learning, living, and leading in every corner of the school. Here are the highlights:
CURRICULAR HIGHLIGHTS
Projects of the Senior Section
Students of Grades VI to X showcased their creativity and analytical skills through subject-based poster presentations and PowerPoint projects. The initiative aimed to deepen research-based learning while enhancing public speaking and visual communication skills. Themes ranged from environmental sustainability and global trade to digital ethics and scientific innovation.
“Pedagogy: The Basics of Teaching” Teacher Training Led by Principal Sir
As part of our commitment to educational excellence, Principal Dr. Sabuj Ahmed conducted a hands-on training session for NSD teachers. The session focused on learner-centric pedagogy, critical thinking frameworks, AI integration, and effective classroom engagement strategies. This session sparked rich dialogue and practical planning for elevating teaching practices across levels.
CO-CURRICULAR MOMENTS
Tree Plantation Drives (Playgroup to Grade 4)
Our youngest learners took the lead in environmental care through joyful tree plantation activities across Playgroup, Nursery, KG, and Grades 1–4. With small hands and big hearts, students planted saplings on campus and in pots they decorated themselves. This initiative not only beautified our environment but instilled a love for nature and responsibility for the planet.
Table Manners in Pre-School
Pre-schoolers learned the golden rules of dining through role-play and hands-on practice in a special Table Manners session. Using child-sized dining sets and visual guides, teachers guided students on how to sit, eat politely, and interact at the table — building both confidence and courtesy.
Craft Classes in Pre-School
Creativity flowed freely in our pre-school craft classes, where little learners explored cutting, pasting, folding, and decorating. The sessions helped enhance fine motor skills while encouraging joyful self-expression through art and design.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR VIBES
Basketball Activities Heat Up!
August saw the beginning of our inter-house basketball sessions and skill drills. Students from middle and senior grades showed great enthusiasm in building strength, stamina, and sportsmanship. Practice sessions focused on teamwork, dribbling, passing, and tactical awareness.
Karate Class & Belt Change Ceremony
Our karate students celebrated a milestone this month with a vibrant belt change ceremony. Months of disciplined practice culminated in a colorful showcase of kata and self-defense skills. New belts were awarded in recognition of effort, growth, and mastery.
Teacher Training by Pearson Education
Teachers from various departments participated in a high-impact training session conducted by Pearson Education. The training focused on assessment for learning, differentiated instruction, and international benchmarking strategies. It reinforced our commitment to staying aligned with global best practices.
Message from the Principal
“In every child, a seed of greatness grows. In every teacher, a gardener of dreams works. This August, we planted both ideas and trees — nurturing bodies, minds, and spirits. We look forward to a year of even deeper growth.”
— Dr. Sabuj Ahmed, Principal
